In Barcelona there are about 3,000 children taken care of by different units of the town hall for being in high social risk, of which almost 2,000 are considered homelessness. In addition, there are hundreds of immigrant children who do not enter this calculation and the number of these children is unfortunately increasing dramatically.
VIS Foundation, before being a Foundation in November 2018, when it was only an association (since 2013), he gave its contribution in this very delicate sector of the Spanish society. VIS has done it specifically in the San José de la Montaña Home in the Catalan capital and in the Emmanuel de Sant Just Desvern children's home, on the outskirts of Barcelona.

At the San José de la Montaña Home we have offered concrete help so that the approximately 60 minors in the center have the necessary tools to develop fully, grow up healthy and take responsibility for building a better future. During these years we have contributed with at least 5,000 euros to purchase furniture and appliances in the rooms where children eat or spend their free time in recreational activities.
But, above all, an important investment was made painting the entire reception center, its rooms, common areas, offices and others spaces. The renovation and proper maintenance of the center, which in this specific case were achieved thanks to the sponsorship of “Cavallé & associats” in 2016 (valued at around 5,000 euros), has an impact on the quality of life of the children in foster care both psychologically, behavioral attitudes and school performance.

We have also cooperated, although with a small amount (about 2,500 euros in total), in the children’s residence Emmanuel, helping to finance some recurrent costs of managing the center and performing some maintenance work in the kitchen. In this community, where between 6 and 8 minors live in a state of need and vulnerability, they are assured the necessary care so that they grow up healthy, protected and, of course, have access to comprehensive quality training.
In addition to these contributions in economic resources or in work carried out, our organization has also supported it with some hours of volunteering.
As always, the institutions that we help as VIS Foundation are institutions we know personally, and in which we trust because we see that all the mechanisms of protection and care of minors are effective and and that the minors receive the respect, the support and the dedication of their responsibles and tutors.
At VIS Spain, we confirm our humanitarian vocation of development cooperation in third world countries, but we also wish to continue promoting our support for the neediest children in our country. We need your help to get it; That is why we encourage you to become a Vis member even with a small contribution to be part of our mission, but above all to be part of the change!
